Making is the production of relations through material events. What I think is emerging is an ontology of making. The clay isn’t the subject. The object isn’t the outcome. Even process isn’t the central concern. The central concern is relation. Relation between body and matter. Relation between force and resistance. Relation between object and space. In an universe suddenly divested of illusions and lights, man feels an alien, a stranger. His exile is without remedy since he is deprived of the memory of a lost home or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between man and his life, the actor and his setting, is properly the feeling of absurdity.
